Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique key case to mark the centennial of the company. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying "B" paperweight, a set of keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Design

Bentley has released a special specification for cars built after 2019 to commemorate its centenary. It is known as the Centenary Specification. Function
The Bentley Mulsanne Key features two buttons that open the trunk, and the second that turns on the vehicle. It also has a switch that can turn on the parking break. There is a knob to fold and unfold the mirrors when parking in tight spots. This feature helps you get in and out of your car.
Each key takes two days to make. It is cut by hand to shape, sewn sealed and polished to give an extremely high-end finish. It is small and sturdy and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its style is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key, but it feels much heavier and has a more luxurious feel.
Secure-A-Key is also included to help prevent keyless entry theft. This device is put into the remote-control fob and then shuts it off if the key is not used for more than a few minutes. It stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can be used to open and start the vehicle.

Personalisation
Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own car. Customers sit at a set of images called "mood stations" and pick a collection of images ranging from scenic views to sporting events that inspire them. Every time a choice is made the pattern that emerges shows the model colors, style and color preferences for the bespoke Bentley.
The guests receive a key case made by hand that contains the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. The keys can be fitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the door opening with the owner's name or logo as they approach the vehicle.
Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to build and build a Mulsanne. The unwillingness to embrace modern technology is the primary factor to this lengthy and laborious process. Instead of using a machine to place the perfectly matched cross-stitched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, not using sensors built-in to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spaces.
During the event, Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities using one particular example - the Mulsanne W.O. The Mulsanne W.O. bentley key programming pays homage to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited edition cars come with the key, which displays an original 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
